Charles de Montebello A native New Yorker, Charles de Montebello has worked as an audio engineer in New York City since 1988, accumulating industry credits ranging from ADR/Looping engineer to Grammy Award winning mix engineer. In 1998, Charles decided it was time to carve out a niche in the voice over and post-production industry, drawing on experience gained from his vast and varied audio background. The result, CDM Sound Studios, Inc., is a full-service facility with an emphasis on spoken-word recording, narration, ADR, and post-production. After almost a decade, and a Grammy Award for "Jon Stewart's America: The Audiobook", the firm has gained a well-earned reputation as a formidable player among New York's high end recording and post-production facilities. CDM is also the recipient of numerous Audie Awards and nominations.
In keeping with Charles' vision for the company -- providing only the highest quality audio services and unparalleled customer service -- while meeting the demands of an ever-growing workload, CDM recently relocated to a newly constructed, outfitted and expanded suite of studios at New York's Film Center Building on West 45th Street. There, Charles and his top-notch team continue their work as sound designers, sound mixers, and digital recording experts for film ADR and commerical clients such as Showtime, Toys 'R Us, McDonald's, PBS, The Discovery Channel, HBO, and Starz..
Ethan Donaldson Ethan Donaldson began his professional recording career in 1997 when he started splicing tape with razor blades, aligning tape decks and syncing machines with SMPTE and blackburst at a fancy pants 48 track analog recording studio in Carlisle Mass. After moving to NYC in 2000 he worked as an engineer at Sear Sound, renowned for it's impressive 260 plus microphone collection and internationally famous clientele. As a freelancer he went on to produce, engineer and mix records by local rock and world music artists including The Heroin Sheiks, Vampire Weekend and Akron/Family being among the best known. In 2006 he began lending his ears and expertise to spoken word; recording and mixing news features for WNYC, VO for commercials web sites, pod casts, museum installations, and several award winning audiobooks.
